well i just picked me self up a vs 96 series 2 commy for 2200 with one month rego...an old guy used to own it before his family took his lisence away from him then car yard got it (good friend of ours) . it drive very nice (as it should for only 76 000 k's) everything works.....bit of an upgrade from my trusty vn that has nothing wrong with it and still goes hard oK the car has only done (genuine) 76 000 k's.....its ****ing neat what i wanted to find out is will vn commy front springs fit a vs (low springs) also the tail shaft as i have a vn tail shaft that i recently redone (unis and bearing) cheers guys
your best bet is to take it out and have a look, i have a feeling the springs will be the same but the struts might be slightly differant. i put VT front struts and springs in my VS, all i had to do was change the strut tops other than that they are exactly the same. you could call a suspension place or maybe some wreckers see what they say, but i asked heaps and heaps of people about it when i wanted to put the VT's in my car and no one had a clue.
i reckon, my mate paid nearly 8k for a VS with 210k on it, it was problem after problem for about 3 months. an extra 3k later and NOW it seems good.
cheers guys...yeh will have to speak with a suspension place....i now the front struts arnt the same but yeh will have to make sure as for teh car it drive extremely smooth...drives that smooth you dont know you are doing well over limit.....tell ya one thing teh abs works weel (tested it)...interior has no rips and no wear and tear....had it up on the hoist for roadworthy today and mechanic was amazed at the fact it had no oil leaks for a commy....its pretty dry under there haha not normal for a vs mechanic said teh engin has never been touched (repaired etc) the only problem i can spot with it is the suspension is soft other then that nothing.....yet anyway i will have to take pics of the car but me camera has decided to **** up atm.....pics will come soon though cheers
if the engine has never been touched thats good. but bad too, it means that your 75k car is reaching the 100k mark when allot of common problems start to occur. In all honesty I hope your car was built on a wednesday as it sounds like a ripper of a find and a good example of what a VS should be.
haha yeh thats what my first impression was that as it has low k's on it and never been touched it will have probs in near future.....but on the other side of my brain was" if you dont get it' good luck finding one like this again for 2200k lol to be honest if something goes wrong with engine/gearbox it would be worth the $$ to fix.it even came with acclaim mags that are in great nick (pretty sure there acclaim) oh the rof lining is starting to come off...not bad though but yeh they all do that...every vn-vs that em family has owned has had it replaced
