Hi my problem is car just stopped on highway. The RACQ towed it to my mechanic at the time it had spark but no fuel pressure, replaced pump then he said there was no spark tested ognition module ok rings me up a few days later and tells me it now has fuel and spark but wouldn't fire he checked it for compression and informed me there was was only a maxium of 100psi to 110psi oall eight cylinders and I would need a rebuild or replace the motor. Has anybody ever had this happen to all 8 cylinders, as it was running fine before, it wound over had spark just and wouldn't kick in.

Strange thing to happen to all cylinders at once, very strange actually. Get another opinion!

It should still fire, even tho the compression is a bit low it is still even across all cylinders so should still fire and run, just will be low on power.
    Get a second opinion.

The mechanic tells me it needs more than 100psi to, fire am just wondering what he might have done wrong to maybe cause this, or hasn't checked what might be causing it, to all of a sudden be low on all cylinders?

That is what I will be doing. Would like to know what would cause it to suddenly not have compression is he not testing it correctly, should he be doing something else to make sure it will get compression eg rings are dry from been continuosly wound over just curious enlighten me with some of your knowledge.

hes probly just telling you this so he gets money, or he just doesnt know **** about cars, seriously doubtful that all 8 cylinders would go low on compression at once (over time yes) but it wont cause it not to start

GETANOTHER OPINION and tell this guy to shove it lol

I think the point they are telling you is that your mechanic is probably telling you bullshit.
