good 4 any motor..................the double row is to help stop any stretch in a timming chain. just getting the timing right is important. ( the vs v6 may alreardy have a double row)

the vs does not have a double row timing chain.

For a double row to fit the balance shaft has to be taken out, and if you do this you HAVE to get your bottom end completely balanced.

:edit: and will also need to plug in the rear balance shaft oil feed gallery or otherwise you will have a high oil pressure drop.

WRONG...the balance shaft does not have to come out..just the gear on it has to come off, vs - vy ecotec's r all the same all the timing covers r all the same all the oil pump covers r the same even the super charged 1's no matter what any1 tells you, take it from me ive spent 4 weeks n bought 2 double row set to figure out what was rubbing n it amazers me how no1 else has noticed it n yes i went to the wreckers n tested it on every model engine vs to vy n they all have the same problem n another thing i found with the removal of the balance shaft is you dont have to remove the intake maniflod to bung up the hole like every on here tells you only take the gear box out cause when you take the rear engine cover off turn it round n you'll notice there r 2 holes with a oil channel between them, this to feed the oil from the drivers side oil gallery to the passenger side anyway 1 of the holes has a extra channel on it that feeds the balance shaft so all you gotta do is get that channel welded up so all you have is two holes joined by the channel saving you money on buying a manflod kit etc.... gee ppl didnt notice that just like they didnt notice that all you need to fit a rollmaster double row chain is a shim yep a bloody shim n no chamfer machining of the crank gear,b4 you pick up your chain set open it in the shop n look at the back of the crank gear n make sure the surface of the chamfer is about 3mm roughly if it has a really small chamfer is the wrong 1.then take the gear to machine shop n get a 0.7mm thick shim made something hardened though to sit in the back of the gear between the top edge of the chamfer n the edge of the tooth part of the gear witch is the black metal n also get them square off the corner where the black meets the shinny metal so the shim sits flat :) just the corner !! dont take any off the mating surface or the tooth part.now there is clearance between the chain n the standard oil pump cover between .5 to .8 of a mil witch aint much but wont rub but i recomend to get the machined oil pump cover from mace for just in case...............there it is how to fit a rollmaster double row chain set to vs-vy ecotec v6
