Hi Guy's my first post on this site ( :w00t: ) I have an annoying grone in my front brakes :bang: I've just pumped the tyre’s up to 41 psi and it has removed some of the grone but it is notice able when medium/heavy braking :whistling And I have checked the brake pad's for worn/or glazed but I can't see any thing like that but I’m not a mechanic (I’m using anti dust pads) Any help would be heap's for me as it is my first half decent car
If the noise got less when your pumped the tyres up then try swapping front for rear tyres. Some of the cheaper tyres can make a lot of noise due to their poor construction - I know as I have 2 on the front and they feel/sound like steel wheels.
Hey thanx bud It could be the tyres but i don't think so i have goodyear LS2000'S all around and none of the others are having that sound but i'll try it
Maybe a more precise description is needed like when braking hard/moderate does the groan happen when pedal is pressed or when car is almost at a stop. The more information the better so that people on this forum can help eachother.
Anti dust pads are generally of a harder composition and they do tend to make a bit of noise when braking. Anti noise compounds such as BrakeStop can help.
it when i'm about to stop to cross the rounder abouts near where i live. and yes it is when their is a bit of pressure been put on the brake pad's it's a pritty not loud loud but you can hear it's their when the music is going in side the cab with the window up you could say it's sorta repeating in the abs pump sorta so it could be the senser???? i don't know it's not affecting the working of the car yet...... so i my sence it's fine to go to work in....
Yea you could call it a chatering noise i'll find out friday arvo i've got it booked in to the workshop to find out what's wrong with the bloody thing thanx
FINAL POST The tech's have told me that it's the abs sensors making most of the noise but the brake pads where contributing to the abs sensors to work
It will depend on how you brake. If you stand on the brakes at the last minute, then yes, the ABS can be noisy. Funny though, my VS makes no noise at all when the ABS kicks in. You can just hear the tyres skid slightly on the road. No feed back in the pedal at all.
That's like my car, it's normal right? my pedal used to pulsate when the ABS kicked in, but ever since I replaced my rotars and pads a few months back no problems, except when I had the wrong hub on, then it did all sorts of stuff.
i've tried but never had the ABS activate and i can really cane the brakes on a good day, when i get home you can smell em from a mile away
