hi guys i have a standard 97 vs v6 auto sedan only things i have done r new spark plugs new leads serviced transmssion and of course fuel air and oil filters now my question is this while i can appreciate it has 215000 km on the clock im still abit confused about my fuel consumption this morn i did a 230 km trip on the highway car was empty when i put 40 dollars of premium in = 26 litres now after the trip my fuel gauge was about 1 mm above red line and the fuel warning red light came on so basicaly i guess i used at least 20 litres or there abouts when i looked up the specs for my vs it says it should get 7.2 litres to 100 km on the highway so it looks like mine used a fair bit more than that ? i have also read that old o2 sensors can slowly affect your fuel consumption and they should b treated as a service item mine r original anyone else got a similar story or ideas thanks muzza
10L/100 is not too bad , but not great either. Depends on the landscape ? Flat or hilly. And the best way to check economy is on a full tank and zero your odometer, then fill up again and calculate the L/100 k's that way. Could be dirty injectors, dirty throttle body, old 02 sensors or worn engine. Cheapest suggestions are try a bottle of injector cleaner, throttle body cleaner if you know how, check the air flow meter is clean too. If that don't help try the 02 sensors. Why do you use premium fuel ? I get better economy than that with regular.
qyeh i get 220 around TOWN with that amout of fuel (normal 26 litres) on highway i waould get somewhere round the 350 mark
