Bits..
Righto,

At this stage Im pricing up my next project.. plans would be ecotec (series 3)& Convert to manual..
I know a few of you have done a this conversion, so whats the guts?

So Im looking at buying a VS with the series 3 motor, or buy as a complete motor with ancillaries (loom, coil packs, ecu etc etc)

Would then have to source a (T5 or Getrag?) gearbox from a VN-VP (most common that I can find readily available).. I've heard some motors are 6 bolt & others 8 bolt ?? what identifies either type? And what problems will I encounter/have to fix..

Have no problems fitting up g/box's etc so thats no worry..

Apart from the box & tailshaft itself, what else do I need to make it run?(note this wont be going into a commodore)

Any advice/information appreciate thanks..

Cammed mafless VS Calais 5-speed.
T5 gearboxes were from the earlier models up until late VS or maybe VT, they have a cable clutch. Getrag boxes are apparently stronger and use a hydraulic clutch, but clutch replacements are more expensive. Pretty sure you could use either one, someone will chime in with more info on this, i'm looking at a T5 for my VS.
