Hey there, Ok, I need some advice on my VS 96 exec... a couple weeks ago, I had a new fuel filter put in, and some minor engine, radiator (fluids) checked etc... anyway, since then, everytime Im driving, I kinda feel like the car is "choking"... like you feel its gonna die out any minute... like how a flat battery on the verge of dying or no fuel. And when i start to accelerate it feels even worse. its really ****ing me off coz i dont know whats the prob and people are tellin me it could be the auto transmission fluid, but its full and clean so i dont know?!?! AND another thing, everytime i turn on the ignition, it works fine somedays, but on others, it wont start at all untill i push the gear thingy upwards (like nudge it on "D" )and it starts, any advice on that also would be gr8. Any advice would be hiiiiighly appreciated coz i really want it fixed, im too afraid something might happen on my way to or from work or what not. thanks
Are the revs low on idle? Does it stutter then ok while at speed? Might be the Idle Stepper moter. It controls the idle of the car and probably effects it in the way your describing.
today I replaced a faulty coil that showed similar symptoms. Does it sound like its missing when you put your foot down ? one thing to look for is sparks coming from the leads or coils at night when its dark.
my vr was doing that for a while it had no power wen i put my foot down and was sputtering and it was coz one of my injector leads was pinched
First thing you should do is do a fault code check: http://forums.justcommodores.com.au...22307-checking-error-codes-vr-vs-revised.html This will possibly point you in the right direction as its possible a sensor lead has been dislodged etc when you had the work done on the car.
some fuel filters are a one way, Maybe was installed wrong way and only letting a small amount of fuel in... doubt it though
Thanks for the replies guys.... Nick- the revs are low on idle, and still stutters even on high speed! I'm thinking it might have something to do with the "starter motor" or something, coz even the ignition sucks, like when i start it, it doest start for a while until i play around with the keys and so on... But nonetheless I'm takin it to a different mechanic today hopefully one that knows what the hell he's doing. Thanks for the advice guys, atleast now I have something to tell the mechanic of what it MIGHT be ;-) thankx
