Well, after running like a treat for a few months, the **** box is at it's tricks again.
I have searched and I haven't found a thread about the problem, but if there is and some one can give a link, that'd be awesome.

    The problem:
Started around 400kms ago, at just under half tank, around a hard right hander, with half a pedal of accel (round about, intersection) it cuts out, looses power and just about stalls, once in a straight line it's fine, so I filled the tank, see if it still does it, I've used around 35 litres and it starts again, so just under half tank.
It's like the fuel is washing to the left of the tank and unsubmerging the fuel pump for a second or two and it's not sucking anything.

Would I be right in saying fuel pump is on it's way out again?

It's only 2 years old and very rarely below 1/4 tank.

Thank you if you can help.

I would say the pump is partially blocked and has trouble sucking up minimal fuel once its low and sloshed to one side.
take a punt and replace it, make sure all is well before re assembling such as the filters arent blocked on the pick up.
replace fuel filter whilst youre at it and see how she goes!

could also be a perished return line. if this is the case and the swirl pot isnt being filled up, it will get worse the less fuel you have in the tank.

Sounds like it is the return line. I hope you have a child around to assist you to replace return line or replace tank.

Its just fuel surge. Nothing wrong with your pump, most VS's have the same problem. The swirl pot isnt big enough. Go slower round roundabouts or get a surge tank. I learned that a long time ago lol.

Yep, mine does the same under 1/3 a tank. Have checked returns and they're all sweet. I'll be putting the Walbro in soon so fingers crossed, will let you know if it helps or if the internal return is buggered.

Righto, reading this, I'm guessing this return line you speak is in the tank?

    What's the trick?

If you find that the return line is still connected to the swirl pot, then check that the return line is not being kinked as the pump is refitted up to the tank. Ive seen this happen and it caused the car to stall around corners.

    Yes.

You will need a child to assist you, Its a prick to get the line on and a clamp done up inside the tank.

    What a prick!
The hole isn't big enough for a hand!
So I take it the swirl pot don't come out then

    Thanks Brett, that's really informative.
That should be a sticky since its common.

I replaced the pump myself 2 years ago, had no idea about any of this, and haven't had a problem!

Can you see the swirl pot with a light from the hole on the front of the tank?

As long as it doesn't bugger the pump, I think I may keep it above half tank until I can tinker with it.

Aww that's exactly how I was going to do it since a lighter is small enough to fit inside!

    Haha,

My car does the same thing... I asked the same question a few months ago and only answers I got was "powersteering pump can do that" (bad answer) so thank you, I now know and have an idea where to look...

Although mine is 'losing' power and not 'loosing' power lol

Perspective maybe? First time I recall it happening as I straightened up from the roundabout with the foot to the floor and it doing nothing, it 'loosed' some power (dropped into first) that took me by surprise.
