    Been done many times.

First thing is to make sure that you get a VR or VS cluster. The VN/VP cluster look the same, but you will smoke the trip computer if you use one in a VR or VS without major wiring changes.

As stated already, you need a cluster, the trip computer buttons (available new from Rare Spares last time I looked for around $45) and the wiring loom to connect the trip computer in the cluster and the buttons. You will kave to do the wiring as there is not a plug in loom available. I can give you a part number that can give you a new loom for the installation if you cannot find one from another source. The wiring is the big issue with the conversion.

Allow up to three hours for the job oince you have all the bits ready to go.

I did it just over a year ago, and have considered it well worth while.

Is there anyone in sydney that can install it, as i here on holidays from brisbane and no one in brisbae know how to do it.

they have to be 100% certain they know what they are doing though.

    Hi,

I know that the following auto electrician out west in Sydney has done at least one installation.

PEACHTREE AUTO ELECTRICAL SERVICE PTY LTD
    1-2/ 39 Peachtree Rd Penrith 2750 (02) 4722 9750

However, the advice re those who have done in Brisbane is also valid.

    Cheers.

you can slpice all of the wires bar one from the original dash loom. You wil need to run a wire across to your ECU for the fuel flow sensor

Stuff the loom, jut splice into your existing dash loom and you only have to run one wire over to your ecu for fuel flow

    Patch Harness Part Number

Back in May, I had promised a Holden Part Number for a patch harness that would allow a Level 3 Cluster to be retro-fitted to a VS. I did not go through with that because I noticed that markovr had listed one.

This thread has come to the top again, and I note that there was a problem getting the part number listed by markovr.

Belatedly, the part number that I can supply is 92049288. This is a HSV patch harness that has the necessary connectors to allow the trip computer to be hooked up to a VSII.

I do know that this part number was available about eighteen months ago.

Apologies if my oversight to respond in May caused any hardships.

Goto the wreckers and get a dash loom from a VR/VS Berlina/Calais or Statesman. Then just hack it all apart, get the plugs out you need and make a patch harness to patch into your original dash harness, then run a wire over to the ecu for the fuel flow.

Really simple, but if you need a hand i'm in Brisbane and don't mind doing it for a can of jimmy :p Need something to drink while workin.. haha
