Hey guys, i am finally up off my working behind and looking for my new car (yes Geoff finally) i am looking at VS and VR clubsports and senators, but i have found a black VS MANTA for sale in VIC with 178,000km's on it in pristine condition for just under $10,000. Now i have heard from 1 person that even though these 5 litre V8 HSV's have a 185i engine, they are the slowest HSV's in the VS range. \ Can anyone confirm this at all? How do they compare in power / options etc to the VS / VR range of clubsports and senators??
Yo dude, bout TIME DUDE is this actually gonna happen or not? like last time .... lol well the manta's are the cheapest hsv made, and wernt very popular. They are pretty limited when it comes to options. They have the SS body kit, but have the wide mouth grille instead of the nostril grilles. They ARE a 185i, but i would assume they are a bit lighter than the clubsports, so i dont see how they could be slower. Not sure how many were built. They are ok.... dont looks heaps good though. Got a link? Auto im guessing? (Gay....) They also came with 16" manta wheels. Velour interior i think very similar to the vr clubby. Not much else really...
The interior is half way between VR clubby (kinda crap) and the VS clubby (nice): 1997 Hsv Manta 185i VS II 4dr Sedan Automatic 8cyl 5.0L For Sale - uniquecarsales.com.au If not, then i have the number of a guy who is selling a VR senator i was driving behind on my way home. VERY straight and clean, it has a bee's dick under 200,000kms on the clock, but he only wants $10,000 for it. He is a mechanic who was religiously serviced it since he owned it. Everything is stock except for pacemaker headers and twin 2.5" zorst.
the manta's are a glorified ss commodore, with the hsv 185i motor. I would keep looking and my personal preference would be to go for a senator. Goodluck in your car hunting.
personally i like the mantas...but i would just chuck some vr/vs senator seats in it! then some 20s and ultra lows....then i would prefer it over some senators/clubbys...but not the 215i's...
