Just reading history of this thread. Last few years of the VS ute definately appears to be an exercise in using up parts from my experience. I bought a 97 series 2 S pac. Didn’t look too much into until started modifying. Turned out to have a VT block, raised journals for roller cam, but normal VS internals and heads. Nice surprise because was fitting a roller so saved a little work. Also had VT auto. As far as I knew they didn’t start fitting the VT gear until series 3. Wish I bought an SS or Maloo as price wasn’t much different but also don’t mind driving a bit of a sleeper. Going in for respray in a couple of weeks and will keep the red stripes and badges. Unfortunately can’t find a circular S badge for the tail gate. Also having trouble finding other pieces of trim. Not a lot turning up at wreckers in Wagga. Hope rare spares expand their range...

Try the commodore wreckers in wodonga. Bloke there is knowledgeable and has an array of older commodore parts.

I often drive there from Wagga since the big wreckers closed earlier this year....

Thanks for the heads up about the commodore wreckers in Albury.
Don’t know about one near the Rules. Went there a few times a couple of years back but didn’t get a feeling that they were getting what I needed.
Been trying on line. Making some progress but will go for a drive to Albury.

Is that the wreckers down the road from the Aussie Rules Club (fernleigh rd)?

So where was the big wreckers that closed?

I haven't lived in Wagga for about 40 years.

But my sister & niece lives there, so l visit once a year.

Fernleigh rd wreckers closed after an industrial accident there in late 2018. I have heard rumours a new owner may re open it but all the cars seem to have been removed.

The commodore wrecker in Wodonga is in Sangsters Rd. Easy to find. Also a Rare Spars agent.

I often take the hour drive down there to grab what i need...

That drive to Albury used to take 90 minutes, 30-40 years ago.
The road really hasn't changed in that time, so l wonder why its quicker these days?

Estimation...probably is 15 minutes longer.

Depends how fast you drive I suppose...
