I'm a little confused now, there are three terminals. One looks like the fuse link, but the one in your fingers I can't tell without looking at the battery harness outside.

The one in your hand? Yes?

I'm thinking its the one that bolts to the body earth? I maybe wrong too?

Tomorrow l'll have a look at my vt v6 & l'll post some pics in the morning.

We are discussing a vs statesman v6, yes?

Get it wrong and you’ll cook the car. It does look like an earth. I wish I knew what happened to my collection of VP photos.

I went & checked the old vt wiring. That wire in your hand in post 23 is the body earth.
You can see that there are 2 different looms. One is for the the positive. The other negative (the one in your hand).

Also the the one in your hand would be part of the loom that goes to the negative post on the battery.

I had my vt apart a few years ago ( l was changing the looms for climate control). End of the day, l was tired & l put that earth strap on the positive blew the fuse box relay. (What the fu#k?) Realised my mistake, Corrected the wiring then replaced the relay & all was good.

Anyway, hope this helps. The photos l took where crap, so no point in uploading them.
Good luck.

Downright scary if you can't tell what those wires are..might want to study wiring diagram first.

Red means positive...trace them back to other end to be 100% of origin.

Black is obviously earth...traced back will either to block somewhere or chassis.

Reading some of the comments get feeling something will get arced out.

Iirc fusible link will go plug to white wire that goes to alternator plug...known as load sensing wire.

The thin gauge red wire looks like it’s over heated.
