Thanks for input guys,Im getting some sonnax bits and converter for this one for now,With plenty of these about I can gradually build up a tough spare,and the best way to learn is to have a go, the worst that could happen is 1 less 4l60 in the shed I definitely wouldn't recommend anyone to cut corners like I have but I'm willing to get in the guts of it and figure them out, food for thought I recently fitted a 5sp auto zf box to an amg they handle over 1000nm stock and only around$4k,obviously pcm then is the problem but this computer has to go anyway because of next motors stupid cam, and for fun I could make a paddle shifter, I had the idea with this box but we all know how much they like being told what gear to be in lol

I just stripped a 04 model 4l60 and all was looking good until the very end if found one tooth broken on the rear planetary hub drum thingy, forgive my technical terminology I'm not an auto specialist, it was the only mechanical failure visible and is one of the components that even a lot built 4l60s still have that's oem, this vy box failed a big part I believe due to a dead tps and ignorance if anyone out there has had planetary teeth broken with a standard v6 I'd like to know , I did find however the later box does appear to have slightly heavier oil system slightly better pump and heavier accumulator springs than the original vs one so might make a hybrid the Ve ones seem to be slightly beefier too like a kitted 4l60 I think they're a 65
