hi all, when indicating left, the front indicator illuminates, but the rear doesn't. initially i thought bulb but it's not. When the hazards are turned on, the rear indicator flashes as part of the hazard light signal. So i removed the rear left indicator bulb (brake light bulb, dual filament. is that the correct bulb?) and checked if there's voltage at the indicator bulb terminal when the left indicator is turned on. There isn't. So it seems like there's a problem somewhere between the indicator switch at the steering column (LEFT) and the rear bulb terminal. Is this a common problem? anyone have any suggestions? thanks
hmm seems to be intermittent. left rear indicator wasn't lighting up for several days, but now it does.
That globe is the brake/tail light globe. The indicator globe has a single filament. If it's working now, you might have a dirty connection at the bulb, or loose wiring at the back of the globe holder.
I had a similar issue but with the taillight on one side. (would go and tap it if it wasn't on and it would be fine for that trip) globe looked fine (no broken filament), had the whole set up apart to find out whats wrong. and it showed no fault at all. ended up trialling the idea of a new globe and it worked fine everytime after that. as nut kracker above has said, it could be an issue with contacts (even if they look good) and the globe itself so maybe grab yourself a spare set of globes and swap it over. at worst you've spent a few $s and you have some spares on you at all times.
