VS ute series II... the work bus

turned out the were rubbish. clapped out completely. they were a fair way away from my house but one of my mechanic mates cruised round to have a suss for me. he lives 5 min down the road. i was gonna low ball him any way. spent the money on a few bits and pieces for the motor.

had a couple packages from some ebay sellers rock up.
Had a go at turning my dash lights white. Pretty happy considering wasnt heaps sure what i was doing.
This is the result of $18.20 and bout an hour and a half of work.

gonna have another go at it tomorrow. odometer light is still green.
Had to take the needles off. Gotta check speedo is still accurate. i know i have the tacho slightly of because my car hasn t ever idled at 600 since ive had it. Always 850

Looks good, believe it or not I actually came so close to buying the same items at the beginning of the week but decided to wait a bit at the last minute ,not sure why ,still will probably get them. Is the display brighter than the original?

yeah mate... probably a little too bright to be perfectly honest.
I had only two bulbs working and they had blue covers over them.
So the difference was huge. i reckon i'll get used to it.
Looks alot more modern then the crappy green.

Dropped the ute off to the motor trimmer this arvo. New headliner getting done.
pretty handy he works from his back shed and his house is a 5 min walk from my house. Will post up pics tomorrow night

Made a few ebay purchases today. Got new engine mounts, new idle tensioner, water pump and also got a pair of outer tie rod ends sitting at pedders for me to pick up. Also have a delphi crank angle sensor in the glove box.
I think im gonna buy a new hose kit too.
Service is coming up in about a month so looks like its gonna be a big one.
im 30 now but i think the bug i had as a 19-21 yr old is coming back. Starting to enjoy mucking about with cars again

Trust me you never totally loose it. Might go MIA for a time at various stages but it keeps coming back
