Thanks guys

Im not looking at spending big bucks :

So re-programing the orriginal chip is the way for me to go ATM ..

I had some software before , ????? dont know where I got it but , was supposedly good for re-writing - fuel maps etc ..

Oh well , guess ill have to source it all out again :

jc58nc , thanks ! Could you tell me what software you are using to re-write , and what software do you re-flash with ... Sorry , but seems you have a nice head start there ...

The Willem Programmer comes with excellent software.
Tuner Pro is free and the best to use for bin file modifications.

Craig Moates site has lots of goodies and info.
http://www.moates.net/
And for ALDL monitoring WinALDL is the go.

Instead of buying a UV eraser to erase the eproms for rewriting, consider using eeproms instead, where the Vs needs a 1mb "Moates" has 4mb eeproms and just "stack" the code 4 times to fill the chip. He also has info on switching between eeprom segments, you can run 4 different setups and switch between them.
I am just starting with Vr Vs Commodores, I was into modifying N13 Pulsars running GMH 18le engines and the same Delco ECUs. With the Pulsar the standard eprom was a 27C128 and I used a AT29C256 eeprom and "stacked" it twice.
What's the code number on your current memcal ?

Ok

Possibly one of these two -

72444 96075 or 014 07957 _ 89604TF

Why would you need to fill the 4mb eeprom , once the info is in there ?

Thanks for the info , might order the Willem programmer next week ..

Sorry Matt that's the wrong number, it's the number on the eprom itself ie. BSTK on an alloy sticker, it may have the number on the outside of the ECU but just check to see what you have where your car is a BT1. The ECU can read the extra memory and expects the program to be in the upper most segment so if you just write it to 0000h onwards only it will see the top segment as blank. For example with a 256kb eprom you can start the burn at 4000h to 7FFFh and place it in the top segment and leave the bottom segment 0000h to 3FFFh blank. The software with the Willem Programmer has an option to "fill the eprom" or words to that effect and does it for you.

Hmmmm

I can see the top , and sides of the eprom , there is no alloy sticker ...

Guess it may be on its belly ?

Heres a stuppid question ? How do you get the eprom out of the plastic casing .. They dont look like they want to come out ...

Looks like I have lots to learn ...
