I thought, on a VS, the Oil Pressure Switch only comes into play once the engine is running???
In any case, as far as I know, Bridging the Relay takes the OPS out of the equation.
EDIT:
Actually, EPHECT may be right...it may depend on the model of the car.
There's an interesting, albeit inconclusive (?) discussion about the OPS here...
