It just spluttered and stopped. It started but ran like it was on two cylinders and then stopped again. I can't get its started at all now. Before this happened the temperature gauge was showing the engine was colder than normal and at one point, I thought I saw some smoke out the front. It seemed like it was getting too much fuel.

Its not the IAC and there's no vacuum hoses disconnected. The fuel pump still makes a noise when you try to start it. The engine light has not come on so I don't think there'll be any codes stored.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

There are alot of trouble codes that dont light up the ''check powertrain'' light.

You need to check the trouble codes to determin the problem.

My guess is that its either the crank angle sensor (will come up in the trouble codes) or its the DFI module or a coilpack.

^^ Agree with IBLOWN. I would start with a service - fuel filters/oil filters/oil/coolant etc. Check the error codes cause its not that hard to do. Sounds like it could be tied up with fuel.

Checked the error codes and came back with 12 only, so assuming all clear on the major components. Thinking it must be something simple but need a check list.

We'll for a start, does the car start now? If not, and when you turn the key the electrical system keeps trying to kick but theres no start I would be suspecting fuel.

The DFI module doesnt have an error code. Now that we know its not the crank sensor, take off the connection going into to the DFI module, inspect connectors for corrosion, lightly sand the connectors even if no corrosion, spray with contact cleaner and replace connector.

The dfi module may not have an error code, but it will usually spit out the same as if it was a CAS (ie error 47).
