Have you filled it up with fuel lately? Perhaps bad fuel.

Could even be bad spark... Or another 100 things...

how low did you let it get before you filled up you may have picked up some crap off the bottom of your tank and possibly blocked an injector

I dont know what test you did but check fuel pressure. How old is your fuel filter that might need changing.
Also check some of the vaccum lines in the engine bay.

it first started as light smoke when i was sittin in idle for a while and it got really thick and white after a couple mins waiting for traffic to move. pulled over and left car turned off for 15 mins and continued home. got a little bit of smoke on the way but not very thick. havent risked turning it on again since :(

that seems like a gasket/seal has gone somewhere.

Is it an Auto? Before you start pulling apart you engine have you looked to see if the transmission is leaking? This happened to a mates car the other week and the tans fluid was leaking onto the hot exhaust causing smoke and a loss of power. Start by checking your fluid level but make sure the car IS running when you check it.

its a manual. engine and gearbox have no leaks and no water in the oil. kinda spells like fuel when there is smoke.
