vs v8 Thermostat

Hi im just wondering does anyone know if you can get a genuine holden Thermostat that is 180f to fit a 96 vs v8 5L as I asked at spare parts Southgate holden and the guy recons he doesn't have a temperature listing.

Im not sure if he was just too lazy or they don't have temp listings.

If so does anyone have a part number. As I have searched everywhere online and can't find any numbers only aftermarket ones which seem to fail alot.

I don't think Holden ever offered a cooler thermostat. Standard listing is a TT1-192, if you want a cooler thermostat than you want a TT1-180. Use the Trident brand. I've used them for years without problems.

I've got a trident 180f but pretty sure it's not sealing properly as it takes about 15 mins to reach operating temp of 180f.

Do you have the bypass hose fitted?

Does the top hose start 2 warm up straight away? as that would indicate the thermostat isn't sealing properly.

Have you tested it?
It maybe stuck open slightly.

Also, if your cooling system and motor are in excellent condition, it may over cool slightly with peak temps only seen on very hot days.
