No sealant on the seal but you will need to grease the lip of the seal or you will burn the seal and it will leak. I have heard of people squirting some sealant in the bolt hole of the crank snout. I never did on my Buick and it never leaked but might be different on Eco?

I realise this is an old thread, but commonly used none the less.

I will add:
The crank bolt head is 15/16 (the same as 304's) and a 15/16 socket fits a bit nicer than the 24mm.

I've gotten to the point of taking the Harmonic balancer off, the only problem is I'm not 100% sure if you screw that duckfoot tool all the way through or if you had the cone bit on the end of it? It looks like you've screwed it all the way through but i thought that might damage the thread, can someone please help

Don't push anything into the hole in the centre of the crank.

I normally put a long cap screw down the hole and push against that.

As someone else previously mentioned would a 1/4 inch drive socket on the end of the puller part going into the HB work?

You need to lock the crank if it's spinning.

Depending on how you have it all set up, you can sneak a long bar between 2 of the bolts holding the puller onto the balancer and use that bar to stop it spinning whilst you crank on the puller bolt.

If you have an old serpentine belt rap that around, onto itself on the balancer and then put the open loop end around one of the idler pulleys. This will ruin the serpentine belt.
