Hey all, i can't seem to get my mating surfaces clean, I'm using a razor and degreaser but getting scratches in the surface. I've tried using a new razor but it still does the same also what should I do about a few small scratches?

It is a slow job to clean the entire mating surfaces
I used a Gasket cleaner but not sure it did any more than degreaser and razor
I still had to use a razor anyway
I had scratches when finished too
But the car works great since completed
Car likes the new gasket

Stop leak will do more damage than help.

Stopleak could block small passages within your engines internals that shouldn’t be blocked

And if stopleak was so good, doctors would use it to treat haemophilia

(Just in case some Trump supporter are on this site; please don’t inject yourself with stopleak... it will kill you )

I just did this. Tips for others aspiring 'to diy' are
Use bic pen caps for fuel lines. Harder plastic makes it easier.
Purchase O rings (2) for heater inlet outlet pipes. Genuine are BS expensive. And not necessary to go oem.
I left fuel rails and upper plenum intact. Only one bolt near throttle body I had to guess as torque wrench would not fit.

I don't suppose you know what the O ring sizes are? I can never remember.
