VS wagon fuel tank hoses

Hey guys
do the really brittle vapour lines that go to the top of the tank have ANY effect on the
performance or economy of the car at all, apart from the in cabin "fuel' smell ???
mine are fairly stuffed !

Didn't affect my economy or performance but the smell was enough for me to fix them properly.
