Have serviced vt and when cold is very responsive but hot sluggish when full throttle applied up to 3-3.5 rpm then clears up and moves Replaced coil leads plugs Fuel pump filter injectors fuel reg Crank angle checked tps Tried another maf New bosch o2's Serviced auto Only think I can think of is knock sensors from engine noise has 300k on clock what else can it be????? Checked codes 12 always
Thats just Emotec. Very Emo. Heat soak is a big problem with these engines. Although, i rebuilt mine recently. It went the same whether it was hot or cold for a few drives. It was great! After that it went back to its sluggish ways when hot... Annoyed big time. When hot, all the tolerences open up i.e rings, pistons, bores. All the sensors get heated up too. With the new and old motor i reckon i lose about 20% when hot.
When you figure out what it is, post up results. I've had the same issue for about 4 years and have learnt to deal with it. (Apart from throwing engine in the bin and starting from scratch). There are many on here with the same gremlin.
I started from scratch and never found an answer lol, The only part thats still stock is the crankhttp://forums.justcommodores.com.au/v6-development-modification/91365-twin-turbo-vs-ecotec-build-engine-build-progress-page-16-a-16.html. Its definately got to do with tolerancing with heat. It opens up too far. Like i said, mine went hard and went the same when hot and cold, but that was only just afte i ran it in. Now its just back to the way it was when it was stock. Same difference in power drop i mean.
