Vt berlina wagon S1 5.0 + vn berlina sedan 5.0 man
Hi all hope everyone is well
Looking for new twin 2.5 cat back for the Vt S1 5.0 wagon
It’s got hitec headers
Currently got what I think is xforce as the tips are but it’s like Swiss cheese lol
Holes all through mid mufflers and all through pipes
It’s old
Looks like had rear muffler around the twin pipes but it’s been ripped off at some stage as the pipes before tips are all perforated so I’m certain was a rear muffler at some stage that must’ve rusted out
Looking at a xforce 2.5 cat back
Not sure if should get rear resonators or straight through?
Any thoughts
What sounds best on the 5.0 with extractors
Also is it worth changing stock cats?
They could be gutted for all I know
As my vn v8 was when I changed exhaust on that
Had for 5 years before I knew cats were gutted
I’ll see when pull it apart I guess
Also you think I’d be losing much sound via all the rust holes in mid mufflers and perforated rear pipes?
Surely I think I would
Any info appreciated

VS Statesman
Twin 2.5 offset in offset out straight through mufflers with 14-16” long 6-7” resonator.

If you get rid of the resi they sound drummy imo. I like the red back exhausts for performance/sound vs cost.

ln my experience it was best changing the system as a cat/muff/tail section rather than revisit. Bolts ups are good but not all brands interchange, some 4 bolt flages, some 3 or have slip sleeving requiring clamps or could be welded for eg. I had a xforce twin out, changed to a pacemaker of the same discription and prefer it. Changing the fact cats removes the sluggish 2-3k rev range and will also assist up to 6+ depending on your headers etc. I have better fuel ecconomy 8.6ltr /100km hwy, hills about 10 depending. Stainless sounds crisp in my opinion, steel can sound hollow. Ad a k&n filter to assist flow. Resernaters quieter or straight out a nice rumble, pipe size can raiz db. Hope this helps.

Single 3 with decent hot dog in the middle and a proper rear resonator.

A 5L isn't going anywhere fast with a cat back only so you might aswell make it sound mint. (Thats the only reason to have a 5L anyway)
