Welcome to Just Commodores, a site specifically designed for all people who share the same passion as yourself.
the clip you are talking about can/would lose tension, thus the occurrence of your problem. to change one, technically you do open the diff up, the axles pop out of the housing on each side. when re-inserted, they should go back together with a solid feel, but alas, i cant imagine it would be too hard to miss the machined slot in your side gear and pop the axle in too far.....Mungus said:a circlip holds the output shafts in place and this had worn on my left side. took it to a mechanic and he changed the circlip (externally, no need to open up the housing), however i asked him if the seat on the shaft had worn and all he could tell me is it went back together with a solid feeling.

Pyrod said:just got under again and on the left hand drive shaft, there appears to be minor wear marks just to the left of the abs spindal as described by 'Mungus' didnt appear to be any difference in distance however couldnt see wear marks on the right hand drive shaft, so goin by this sounds like i could have same problem.
Good advice. Also would be worth checking all the suspension bushes or even replacing them (cant hurt can it?) as worn suspension bushes equals unwanted movement in the arse end and with the IRS, it's not such a good thing.Mungus said:SPOKE TO THE SUSPENSION DUDE AND HE SAID THE FIRST PLACE TO START IS WITH A CRADLE ALIGNMENT.
