Hi all, I've had the ss in the shed for a couple weeks chasing a battery drain issue. I've read a lot on here as to where I should be looking already. So I just want to hear some new ideas on what it could be. I've pulled every fuse and relay in the car but can't get rid of the .150mA drain.

What mA should it sit at with the car off and locked etc?
Thinking it could be the after market alarm but not sure on how to remove it (pulled the fuse for it though)
Could it be insulation break down before a fuse somewhere?

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated
Cheers

According to the manual around 35mA is the standing current draw depending on equipment level, from memory my Calais was around 45mA, at 150mA its unlikely to be a stuck lamp, sounds more like a stuck relay, Pull the fuses one by one and watch the meter while listening for relays clicking.
Regards,
Raff

I can't see it being a stuck relay as there wouldn't be any power to it anyway when the ignition is off. (The relay is there to relieve current load on the circuit).
Also, if it was, things would start to turn on buy themselves when the ignition was turned on.
As Raff said, pull each fuse one by one and watch the meter.
You don't have constant power going to any mods such as an amplifier do you?

I just remembered something, sorry but these days my brain juice is all but dried out.

In my car the subwoofer amplifier in the boot stayed turned on and drained the battery.

Also for some strange reason even with the key out my car powers the odd relay here and there at times, maybe its haunted :p

Hi, and thanks for the ideas so far.

Only electrical mod is a 7" DVD and I've totally disconnected it but no change.
I've also disconnected all interior globes and power seat.

.150A equals about 1.8 watts
even an interior globe is around 3 watts
I would suspect it is just alarm, stereo memory, and BCM remote reader
do you have a phone connection/bluetooth that might be always live, how about ipod or gps plugged in to socket
It's more than I would expect but I wouldn't worry about it

Nah no gps or anything, I've literally got everything thing I can see disconnected and the bugger won't drop, it's not really a big problem until it hasn't been driven for two to three days. Might just put a battery isolator on it and reprogram the radio every time it's driven.

how old is the battey?

the older they get the less a full charge they have, even less with short trips maybe it's time for a new one

Just to amuse me, pull out the BCM and the ECU fuse and then measure the current draw. Power may be some how bleeding to these components.
Dunno....just bangin' around a few suggestions.

Battery is only a month old.

Will try those fuses tomorrow and I'll get back to you.
