Vt commodore A/C compressor and fan location

Hey guys,

Im new to this forum but ive spent a while looking around and i havent seen an answer to this question, if there is then i apologise.
Im fixing my dads vt commodore, starting with the air con. When i turn it on the fan works fine but i just get normal air, theres no cooling.

This leads me to think there is a problem with the refridgerant (possibly a leak) or the compressor. I know its illegal to take out the refridgetant but does anyone know where the A/C unit is located ?
And any ideas on what may be wrong?

It the bottom-passenger side most pulley on the fan belt. Is a cylinder shape with the two coolant hoses going in to it.

Okay no i saw it in the engine bay, 2 hoses and a wiring connection?
How would i go about replacing it?

a/c gas leak
-get it tested by aircon or radiator shop
a/c compressor clutch not engaging
-middle of compressor front doesnt spin when a/c turned on (also can be caused by fault in system like temp tooo high due too low gas)
switch in dash inop
-if fans come on when you hit switch car running then switch okay

basically take it to a specialist ask for a regas and leak test fixes most with a regas but if was low has a leak somewhere

if you remove system components you wont know if there is low gas or not
you need to check if ac clutch is working when you hit button and engine running
if this is ok i would get a/c gas checked for PRESSURES the pressure readings (high and low side of ac compressor)
will indicate to the ac specialist if the gas is low
and r134a gas in australia is flourecent so they use a ultra violet light to look for bright green stains to indicate where leak is (if it has one)

Well considering refrigerant has the power to put you in hospital or kill you, I would say the first part you can do yourself. Once that is gone it is very easy to remove the compressor, since its only held on by a few bolts.

And acatmody i was only planning on doing the compressor, and get the refridgerant done at a mechanics so yeah.
