    hi guys,

came across this forum whilst searching a problem i'm having with my car tonight...i must say it's excellent but unfortunately i couldn't find the information i was after...

i have a s2 vt executive wagon....about 3 days ago i noticed the indicators were flicking on and off slowly, it appeared to be an intermittent problem but they worked fine when hazards were switched on....early today i noticed a one point when indicating they stayed on without flashing at all...

tonight i was out with the family and the car just stalled whilst traveling at about 10 k/hr and the engine light came on the dash....it took about a minute before the car would start again and afterward a could notice a slight surge whenever the car was stationary....

obviously this is a terrible time of the year to try and get any work done and any information/assistance would be greatly appreciated...

    cheers

Check the connections on the bulbs and maybe the sensor that's in the intake may need cleaning.

    thanks for the reply monro,

the indicator issues 'appears' to have been fixed by replacing the flasher relay....the stalling issue is another thing altogether....had the raa come out today and he didn't really come up with much...the battery and alternator were fine....the air filter was pretty dirty but okay so we cleaned that....he suggested cleaning the throttle body and replacing the plugs, which i did....car started and appeared to be better but when i went for a drive it stalled again after about 1.5 km's....

luckily got on to a mate who is a mechanic and will look at it thursday...

    cheers

possibly fuel pump. Or coil pack.

Does the dash security light come on and start flashing when it stalls? If it does that you may need a new Body Control Module, which is what turns off the immobiliser. Or the connections to the BCM might be loose.

Does the car have ABS? If so check for corrosion around the ABS module as it's a common fault on the VTs for water to get into the cable channel and cause a plethora of problems.

I'd say checking all the major connections you can, unplugging and replugging just to make sure they're clean and connecting properly.

    hi s_ikari2015,

appreciate the reply....it did turn out to be the fuel pump...i had the raa come out and the guy thought it was something to do with the air filter and throttle body requiring cleaning....luckily a mate of mine who's a mechanic had a look at it and replaced the fuel pump and i was able to take the family away on holidays without any dramas...

thought it may be handy to update the problem in case someone else has similar issues...

    cheers

Hey guys, I have a VT commodore V6. Everytime I turn the left indicator on the lights flash too. Any idea what the issue could be.?? Its not the indicator stalk?

i am picturing lights blinking in sync with indicators
not the common high beam flash when you move the stalk

Wires must be cooked ( fused together) that to happen, blinker wires don't go near the headlights. Also had a issue with mine turning off all my lights at night when touched. If the headlight is flashing with blinkers then something going on with the fuse box or short in wires.

pretty sure front lights have common ground and rear lights have common ground
thinking problem at the lights, not in cabin
just reread tracey post, there is a question mark at end of statement, "not stalk?"
    so who knows

Don't know why the back blinker would turn your headlights on. Anyway his nightmare hard to see without seeing it can only assume its the stalk.

doesnt say which lights are flashing
back indicator, no ground , back feed into park light circuit, front park lights flash
    just hypothesizing without more info
