Anyone out there who can tell me if the grinding noise on braking is the radius rod bushes. noise appears to be coming from the rear tyres. Also is my car safe to drive until I get it fixed?
Worn brake pads definitely make a grinding noise on braking. Check the discs,to see if they have grooves in them if you cant be bothered taking the wheels off to check the pads Sent from my GT-I9100T using Tapatalk 2
Is it safe to drive? Is Russian Roulette safe? Get your wheels off and check the pads, have they been squeaking prior to the grinding? If yes, you could be down to the callipers in which case you are doing big dollar damage to your car.
hello my vt makes a tap tap only when the the car is going really slow with your foot just resting on the brake pedal it is coming from both back brakes. All new pads and the disc are find no lose bolts ever thing is tight the car stop fast just a tap tap noise
hand brake was checked and adjust i have look at ever thing no wear on anything it just go tap tap when yuor foot is just sitting on the brake really slow walking pace
Theres a bird across the road from my house and it makes this sort of a chirping tweet tweet noise. Can u tell me what it is? Possibilities are endless...what sort of a tapping noise is it. Sharp and quick, slow and dull? Plasticy or metallic sound? Could be wheel bearings, could be cvs, could be anything...
short and sharp and metallic like a tap shoe the foot is just resting on brake pedal at walking pace.. cv seem ok no movement in just tap tap tap i you push a little harder on pedal it stops it a really a mind bender
easiest thing to do is get someone to film it for u whilst walking next to the car and then u can upload it. that will give us more of an idea :beer chug: another way to narrow down the source of the sound would be to chock the front wheels, and put the back of the car up on jack stands very securely. then u can start the car, put it in drive and have someone feather the brakes for u, while u have a look around. it could possibly be elongated holes on the brake discs themselves causing it, but i would think a lot more load to overcome the clamping force of the wheel nuts would be required, to get the discs to twist back and forth under acceleration and braking to make a tapping sound against the wheel studs. someone hasnt been playing silly buggers and attached a cable tie somewhere on ur rim or cv have they? what sort of discs do u have? standard/slotted/cross drilled?
A slight warp in the rotors will make that noise , did pads and rotors get changed or just pads on old rotors without machining ? Did the pads get the Tabs bent on them to stop the pads rattling in the calliper ( bendix had a packaging issue with front sets causing the tabs to flatten ) Lazy link http://youtu.be/JutdkAq0lDg
