I own a 97 vt commodore and I'm wondering how I could add some more power to it without pulling my motor apart and doing cams and what not. I've done leads, plugs, oils, fluids, filters, cold air intake, pod filter, performance chip, sports exhaust. If anyone has ideas I would appreciate them a lot. Thanks
Heres a tip, piss that shamefull pod filter off and put a high flow pannel filter in the airbox. Get a full exhaust system and some diff gears, put a shift kit in the auto and thats about as far as you can go without modifying the engine. Ecotecs are SOHC so there is no ' cams ' for it
just before someone picks up on my mistake i meant to say SOHV (Single over head valve) not Single over head cam, cam sits down in the block below head level
LMFAO!!!!!! Ecotecs are a push rod engine and most definitely do have a cam shaft. Maybe you should do some research on the subject before correcting people. Having said that, there is no point opening up your engine and JUST fitting a new cam. If you're going to spend the money, time and effort you might as well build it properly and do everything else while you are there.
LOL I think he meant "cams" as in dohc and he corrected himself Anyway op get some extractors a cold air intake with MCAI 2 hole mod and get chip remapped to suit. theres not much you can do to a 6 without opening up the motor and doing rockers or cam etc.
as said ditch the pod filter higher ratio rockers aren't too hard to fit. only open up engine a little bit performance chips are hit and miss what exactly did you buy
Ah maybe you should read my post before you try correct a mechanic, i said cams because ecotec do not have cams. they have a single cam down in the block as you would of read in my post ? ..
