    Hi guys.

I'm new to this forum and bought a vt series ii acclaim about 6 months ago. Just recently, the fuel pump died, so I had that replaced as well as fuel filter. But it is still running very sluggish. To be honest I do need to get it serviced as it is long overdue, but haven't been able to cos of money troubles. I fueled up just before and took off, but I really had to tramp on it as it was struggling to get over 40km/hr.

The mechanic who fixed it couldn't pick up on any problems. I'm at my wits end with this car, so any ideas of what the problem might be?

Normally I would be starting with plugs and leads, but if the mechanic couldn't pick up that he would be a bloody idiot, so maybe its something else.

    DFI pack maybe?

Have you checked for error codes?

Thank you. I think I'll just take it to another mechanic. But if it's leads, why would it be worse after fueling up?

could be a case of **** fuel or a clogged fuel filter or injectors. buy some injector cleaner and give it a week to clear up, might need 2 doses if its never been cleaned out before as carbon builds up. also check your exhaust as your cat converter might have **** itself that i mean its time for a new one (caved in) or exhaust might be blocked by something?. Check your radiator and see if its oily milky looking, if so its your head gasket. which would lead to less compression/bad performance.

First step should be to check if you have any error codes logged. Do you know if the mechanic did this? There are FAQs on this site that show you how to do it. Do a search.
