    Hi All

This is my first post on this site, have been reading a lot through the site and its a wealth of info, great stuff

my question is i believe the 3.8 ecotecs are all the same from VT- VY , please correct me if im wrong

If i have a 3.8 ecotec VX motor can i run it from a VT computer, i have a manual VT Computer, im looking at putting the 3.8 eco in my toyota 4Runner 5speed , so i will also be doing away with all the antitheft stuff in the computer,

i will be going to the s/c motor down the track but for the time being i am just going the eco 3.8

i did a search on here but couldnt find relevant information to what i was looking for,

thanks in advance for any help
    Deano

Slight changes were made with every model.

The VX had upgraded computer power from the VT for its more advanced fuel injection and ignition systems.

there where very small changes if any between vt11 and vy11, the egr valve from vt1 or vt11 was introduced and that was it,

any computer from vt to vy will run a vt to vy engine, you could use a vs engine on a vt to vy engine but it wont like not having the egr solenoid and give fault codes,

doctor bob on here will be able to help you out here with removing the anti theft from the computer

your spot on my 3.8 vx motor arrived today and the plugs are different, looks like a got a spare vt manual pcm and im chasing a vx one, guess a manual vx pcm would be like finding rocking horse sh*t, oh well looks like it an auto one reprogrammed
