Hi guys. I get a lot of information from this site so a big thank you to all the contributors!

My problem as can be seen in the video is my 1997 VT Commodore Exec 3.8l Auto running on gas and petrol making a squeal or squeak noise when accelerating.

As soon as i stop accelerating it stops.

Any help leading me in the direction of the problem would be greatly appreciated.

Also is there any way to hoist a car up safely to work on the front suspension without a hoist or should I just pay a mechanic.

If i haven't given any information thats needed let me know and ill get back as soon as possible.

If i fix my problem I will come back and report so people who read this in the future can see a resolution.

Ok quick check in the gregorys and i found what the tensioner is. yes my belt needs to be replaced. I will do this tomorrow. Do you think that is the main culprit?

thanks for video :) sounds like belt slipping and bearing noise, which may go once belt is replaced

when you take the belt off to replace it,check every pulley by grabbing it at 12 and 6 and 3 and 9 and give it a wiggle.if no wiggle all good if wiggle may be a bearing problem.

I tried changing the belt but got a little confused... The belt renewal thing has four markers. three together and one at the bottom. my belt sits just inline with the bottom one. now when i put a new belt on. a belt that is 5mm shorter in fact. the belt sits lower than the renewal lowest marker.
