vt gearbox into vs "auto"

    i got me a s2vs calais my auto box is ****ed started looking for a replacment chap as possible
    found a guy who has a few VT boxes with conversion kits to fit them to VS he said all would be good

    called my mechanic and gear box guy non have dont it and think there might be computer and shift issues

    any one done this conversion ?? im not looking for performance just a good solid ride

    it will bolt in, and work, but not 100% as the lockup function is controlled differently between the boxes. just rebuild teh box you have and save the headaches

    I agree with TheForgotten, it will be much easier to just rebuild your old one.

    and $1k more expencive

    vt box 50-120xxx installed $1050
    vsbox rebuilt between $1700-2200

    thats the only reason im thinkin bout going for it

    It may end up costing you more money if it doesn't work.

    Im assuming that the VT box is second hand, therefore there is no guaranty on how long it will last and may end up costing you more in the long run.

    and the 1k you'd save by fitting a VT box you'd spend on entirely custom tune and that's before you pay for the transmission to get re-wired.

    being reletively poor myself I can totally understand why you want to save money where you can, but you need to make sure that you're actually saving money, and not spending more than you would if you just rebuilt. my rebuild cost 1400 with cooler and reco converter (plus it needed a new input drum). ask sircruisealotvs who rebuilt his trans, i know that guy's cheap but i've lost his email address
