Hi guys,

The other day the VT stopped responding to throttle. And then conked.

It starts, idles, roughly at low revs, but If I try and give it any throttle or put it in gear and move, engine conks out.

So far I have done the following:

MAF Swapped
CAS Replaced
TPS & IAC replaced
Test for Vacuum leaks by spraying 'Start ya Bastard' around throttle and plenum - no leaks
DFI module and Coils swapped for known working ones.
Alternator Swapped
Spark Plugs Cleaned and reseated

I can hear the fuel pump prime at key on position.

I was thinking of replacing the fuel pump, but since it starts and idles and the fuel pump primes, I'm a bit hesitant.

I was also thinking of replacing fuel rail and injectors.

It's on the side of the road and becoming a bit of a hassle!

Thanks for any suggestions you could help me with....

Samwow!

check egr for leaks, biggest plastic tube from air box to throttle for a crack. my thoughts are spun a vacuum leak underneath throttle body hose. is the engine light on ? any codes when bridging 5 & 6 ?

That hose under throttle body is fine, all attached.

EGR seems fine, and it's been blanked off by a plate and memcal mod.

Not sure what bridging 5 & 6 is?

No engine light when idling. (Pretty rough idle)

How old is the fuel filter? It might be worth trying a new filter

Bridging pins 5&6 with a wire or paper clip will display any fault codes on the dash. Google it and try it if you can.

I'd get it towed before it sits there too long as vultures will start stripping it.
Blocked air filter or Blocked exhaust maybe?

Here are five signs that something may be wrong with your catalytic converter:
  • Your vehicle's fuel efficiency suddenly drops.
  • Your vehicle doesn't accelerate when you step on the gas pedal.
  • Your vehicle may refuse to start.
  • Your vehicle fails an emissions test.
  • The MIL or Check Engine light comes on.
