I am having some trouble with my ignition, getting it to turn, from my understanding, every time you turn your key off, you need to take the key out to get it to turn again (and it will click out so you can put your key back in and turn it over)....my ignition is not clicking when you take the key out...im not sure if i can fix this or if i need to get a new one..... any suggestions???
it could be as simple as a broken spring, or the barrel could be wrn out completely, its probably best to get someone who knows about them to check it out. Rob
Mine used to be like that, if you turned the key off then you would have to take the key out and reinsert it the get the key to turn on again. Then it stuffed up completely and I had to replace the barrel. Now I can turn my key off and on without removing it. A small piece of metal had broken off in the barrel.
Is it hard to replace the barrel, could i do it myself, or would i need to take it to my local holden dealer??
It's is a little tricky if you don't know how. I suggest you buy a Gregory's manual which explains how it's done. It will also come in handy for many other repairs. The manual will probably cost you less than Holden will charge to replace the barrel.
I have been reading through problems other people have had with the ignition and i saw one that said you need the key in the "on" position to get the barrel out, the only problem is that i cant turn my key at all, is there any other way to get the barrel out?? vor do i need to get a whole new ignition....and how much would a new ignition cost?
