hi ,,,i got a vt sedan.. yesterday turned on the vt...ok..but when it turned off ...it really did not..
and what i mean is it turned the car off..
but the switch when i took the key out ..was in pre start mode display...
ign light /hand brake light / etc..
i tried starting...nothing...and no spring back of key when turned to fully start now
i tried turning off ..all i can do ..is turn fully off the key comes in and out fine!
the car is left in start mode.....drains the battery..
so i pulled the battery lead off and recharged the battery!
as i said i have not start mode at all...only display of a start mode..
i can not lock the car..either cause off is not off..

i not thinking its a key and barrel thing..cause the key is working and coming in and out..
    i thinking the igntion thing...

what can i do to fix this ..the cheapest best way...
someone said go to wreckers...but...i was told dont get a new one...because wreckers will sell you one that might be doing this soon in year or 2 as well..

    any ideas..thanks

Sounds to me like the end has broken of the barrel (the part that goes into the ignition switch), that's why the key turns but doesn't do anything.
If that is the case, you will need a new barrel.

Pull the switch off the end of the barrel, it is held by two little grub screws, once off, have a look and see what the problem is. As said, it sounds like the tab has broken. Or it could be the switch itself.
