I have a 1999-2000 Vt Berlina wagon thats keeps loosing power on extremly hot days! I first though that it was air con related as it only did it when the air con was on. Now if the weather gets over 30 my car just cant cope. I had a new air con system installed Nov 09 and they did it they told me the idle speed motor was on its way out and that i would notice it more when the air con was on. So when it first happened i got a new one installed. Im continuing to have the same problem with the car, have had the DFI module replaced as well as the crank angle sensor replaced and my car is still loosing power and cutting out. What actually happens is the car cuts out and i loose control all power the car. All the dash light come on, and the steering becomes very heavy. If i try to start the car straight away it just wont turn over i have to leave the car for at least 5minutes to get it to go agin, but the problem with this is that every 100 meters or so it will cut out again. Can anyone help me?
Have you got it checked with a diagnostic tool? If you get error codes it can tell you whats going on.
does it missfire?? or does it just feel like the power is being poured out of it?? is it getting worse?? have the coils been replaced?? has the fuel pump been replaced??
Do you have CAI? It may be that your car is simply sucking in too much warm air, which is why you notice it on hotter days. I used to have this problem on my 250 ninja and my old magna as the air intakes werent very good designs and would suck in air from around the engine bay which was hot. the fact that its hot air outside the car makes the air even poorer.
