Hey guys. bought an ex cop VT seemes to be in good nick have done servicing got it checked out and everything was ok. About 5,000 k's later a bit of a chirp started sounded like it was coming from fan belt pulleys. So i replaced the 2 usually idle pulleys that everyone said always go on VT's. But it didnt fix it and its getting worse turns into a real loud squeal when i accelerate could this be the water pump? or maybe aircon as that has also stopped working? thought id try water pump first as its the cheaper option. What does everyone think?

Hrm i reposted this because i found the solution and posted a reply but didn't show up maybe it will later, anyway.
Why do i listen to people, i will never know. When the noise first started i figured it was due to the fan belt slipping, but when i talked to people (people that dont know i guess) they said no no no cant be the fan belt because of the auto tensioner well after 50 bucks on pulleys i went and bought some good old soap today. Like magic the noise has gone. Im sure it will come back so i guess i shall go buy a new fan belt.
Moral of the story trust your gut first if that doesnt work listen to some other idiot :p

Pfft temporarily fixed the noise. This would be the last time i listen to people. When it first started i thought it was the fan belt slipping then everyone one said no no no cant be the fan belt cause its got an auto tension on it. Well after wasting 50 bucks on pulleys i decided to go and by some good old SOAP. presto no more noise, guess i better go buy a new belt now.
