vt memcal

    i recently bought a vt hsv 195kw memcal for my vt ss im just wondering if there any downsides to putting this in my vt and does it make much of a power gain?

    it will not make 195kw as you dont have the camshaft as fitted to the 195 engine.
    if you got it from that blackstar guy on ebay he lied about it making 195kw.
    you will get a small gain but the idle afr is no good without the cam.

    Yea, one of the guys on ebay sells these memcals and is just plain wrong. I have a 195kw VT SS and I had a long series of emails with him,

    Sadly he seems to beleive he is correct and Holdens is wrong. The 195's had a different cam, exhaust/headers, and memcal. He beleives that all VT V8's came with the same cam which is wrong.

    I hope your memcal gives you some improvement.

    i even sent him a copy of the parts listing, a copy of the cam section of the workshop manual & he still refuses to listen, i just gave up on him, hes a rogue

    I got jibbed by that blackstar guy, got a VT V6 chip from him and lost HP dyno proven, lost on road speed and got engine fault codes when using his chip. Told him all this and he just kept rambling. Haven't bought a chip since as I am too scared getting ripped up again

    Did you leave negative feedback on ebay for this blackstar guy? I just looked him up on ebay and he has sold 870 items (not all of them memcals) and has 100% positive feedback, which means he has had no complaints.So it seems his customers are happy. I don't know the guy I just had nothing to do so I thought I check him out.
    I have bought many bargains from ebay. A few weeks ago I bought 6 brand new genuine holden fuel injectors for $174 ($29each) It costs more than that to have them cleaned. I installed them and they work fine but I couldn't notice any difference so I guess my old ones were fine.

    I didn't leave any feed back. His argument was that I got what I paid for (as in a chip) and that a loss of 5 hp on a dyno wasn't proof that the chip didn't work,with variations in results of different pulls, which is true because with just my normal chip there can be a difference of 5-8hp between pulls. But when you over lay the results of the two chips you can see a significate loss in the low to mid rev section of the graph on Blackstars chip compared to stock. I'd be happy to upload a copy of the dyno sheet if anyones intersted.

    I got ripped a couple years back from a place called powerchip in melbourne. Paid $800 on a gold chip and LOST power when i had it dynoed compared to the stock chip.

    That was unlucky, I got a powerchip from Melbourne and it gave me more power in my VN.

    yeh i bought the chip of ebay but it wasnt of a guy called blackstar so hopefully thats good when i start the car i sort of misses a little but it runs fine after that it has actually made the car sound deeper which is a bonus it also goes a little harder to

    There is one guy on there that says free fitting or delivery and turns out he lives in my street in north ringwood stay away from this person. We only did this for arguments sake as i have just bought a crow cam chip rocker and exhaust pakage the first chip he put in the car would start he told us it was the car i had a friend who is a machanic with me second chip auto wouldnt go out of first. thrid chip wouldnt even plug in. He then proceded to tell us that he has only done the chip on his car nothing else a vs v6 and he is making 180kw at the rear wheels what a wanker this bloke is STAY AWAY!!!!

    The guy in Ringwood is him, , like i said he does no programming himself & has no idea

    knowledge is power, do you still have the dodgy VT chip, id like to see what he has had done to it,

    I never bought one we only went there to see what he was all about this bloke has no idea what so ever about car computers send him a msg on e-bay and he will arrange a time for you to go to his house and see this lunatic at work for your self

    Morning Every1,Hmmm Interesting Thread....I Purchased A Performance Chip For My Vn Calais(And A CAI)....Last July From Blackstar....He Was Very Helpful,Installed It As Well...Now I Was Sceptical As To Adding Horsepower..But I Did Notice Improvements On Performance...I Can't Complain...Blackstar I've Been Told Works In Some Car Performance Shop...Does He Know What He's Talking About Or Is He Just Trying To Make A Scamming Buck?....I Have No Idea..But Again,No Complaints From Me....Anyway My Vn Cal Was T-Boned Just Before Xmas(Which I Had On Ebay But Will Now Sell In Pieces)..Now I Just Purchased A Supercharged Vt S-V6 '99...I Was Going To Update The Chip With What Blackstars Offering On Ebay...Hmmm But Now You Guyz Have Got Me Thinking Twice Now :confused:

    just a question, if u buy a memcal of this blackstar person and it really crap, cant you just go get it re programmed on a dyno to run well anyway??? Im sure it is what you are suppose to do no matter what chip you buy right>??
