    Hey guys,
Recently I've found that my VT takes a few cranks before the engine starts up. The mechanics told me it was a bad starter motor but I've replaced that and same problem. Takes sometimes up to 20 turns before the engine starts. I checked could packs, replaced fuel filters, tried using the fuel additive injector cleaner, replaced ignition leads. I have no idea what the problem is. The thing is once the engine starts it runs not a problem although fuel efficiency is not that great. Once you turn it off, it will start first time (within leaving it for 5 minutes). Any ideas guys what it could be?

i read somewhere the ignition loom in the VT's start playing up as they get older due to heat in the engine bay , one of the signs is the same problem as your having , hard or slow starting

Try pressing unlock on the key immediately before you crank it and see if that makes a difference. If so, key or slip key reader.
