Yeah well im pretty worried about it, a commodore shouldnt rev that high @ 100kmh. Im hearing alot about torque converters. How much r they??? Ther r no error codes appearing. Ive replaced sparks and leads, new exhaust. oli etc etc

Is this a new problem or was it like that when u got the car?

4:11 diff gears will get u revving like that. Alternatively if it is standard ratio (3.07 which should rev at about 1450rpm@100km/h) then that means the tranny isn't even selecting final drive (4th with convertor lock up) and it is more than likely staying in 3rd with or without lockup.

Don't worry about the convertor, might just be the lock up solenoid in the tans itself which sends the signal for the convertor to lock up or a calibration issue. Ur box is fully controlled by the comp so it will more than likely be electrical.

    Have you tried checking DTCs?

Diff isn't the problem, just be good to know which ratio u have.

Did the car have this problem when you first got it or did the rev problem come on over time or suddenly?

Next time u hit the highway doublecheck that the shifter is properly in "D". It may be out of adjustment for some reason which would explain why it revs so high. Not many things go wrong in the tranny like this.

Did u just buy the car?

U have warranty, take it back and don't take no for an answer. It is their favourite answer in my experience

Any car sold from a dealer has a stautory warranty doesn't it?

Yes you will pay more from a dealer and I reckon its the statutory warranty. How long ago did you buy it? Not sure how long the warranty runs for it maybe 3 months from memory, in Victoria.

Also when you drive it does it sound like it is kicking up? count the gears and see if it kicks up when you pass through speeds. It should kick up gradually if you gently accelerate to 100. I think mine will go into 4th at just over 80 if im driving smoothly. But then again even if I hammer it all the way to 100 i'll feel it kick up once i back out of it and start to cruise.

Take it back to the dealer, and just get them to road test it. You will probably be surprised as normally its not that big a deal for them to fix it if they only have to look at it once. It may even just be a matter of them plugging in a tech2 or something like that and resetting something...
