    I have purchased a FEB 99 VT Senator Signature Wagon. just trying to decode the VIN and not having much luck. also the HSV plate on the fire wall says 11.03.99 is this still correct as the body plate says feb 99 ( 2/99) did they have a delay when fitting the HSV options???

    can anyone help decode this VIN

    VIN: 6H8VTL35NXL430381

    Model number: VT8VL35-XW5-2BB
    Trim: 171
    Paint: H114

    well if that's the case there wasn't a VT SS Wagon released.
    the vin says this was a Berlina. and the confusion is when decoding the vin at the engine code it says "N". it would make sense to have an "M" as that is 5L V8.
    "N" isn't an engine code at all I think

    The HSV plate was fitted at Clayton on the day the vehicle was finished. Mine is an October 2017 build by Holden but the HSV build plate is 29/12/17. I confirmed with them that this was the last day of commodore based HSV production and they had a handful of cars waiting for parts. The build plate was one of the last things fitted and corresponds to when the car was completed in entirety, even though it may have been started earlier.

    Senators were based off the Berlina.

    Ok, Model number is a VT Berlina Wagon, XW5 denotes Senator and 2BB denotes base Berlina.

    The N in the vin denotes 1951 5 litre V8.

    So VIN is
    6H8=GM-H
    VT= model series
    L35=Berlina Wagon
    N=Sequential 5000 195i V8
    X=1999 build year
    L is Adealide built.

    Paint is Tungsten Pearl
    trim is Pewter

    Pre r8, senators were Berlina base I believe. When r8 came in, r8 was Berlina base and Senator was Calais base pretty sure.

    May be wrong though

    Depends on options and condition.

    Sunroof? Trim condition? Body condition?

    Usually they’re worth around 8-10k. Wagon maybe slightly more at around 12-14k. If it were the 220i it would’ve been worth even more again - $18-20k
