Looking at modifying a stock VT SS 5lt auto. Obviously it the exhaust is going to be done but the mod I looking at doing are for a cruise car so high end performance is not the goal. Having sead that I will be looking at geting some more performance from it. For the exhaust I'm thinking a 2.5 inch pipe with extractors. Cold air in take I know cams have been a big thing to get done to most Gen 3 is it worth looking in for a 5 lt And what other mods would you suggest rembering I'm not going to sink my life saving in to this so must have a realistic budget for the next 2 yr of a round 5-7k for parts. Ps possibly looking at converting to manual know this would blow tha previous budget given any one done this or know how much it going to cost also know what box I should get have driven a vy ss manual for a while and found the 6 speed box easy to us ( personal experiance )
an Idea hot chipping or a programmable ecu brake upgrades lsd diff a must getrag 6 speed manual gas conversion may be over budget
Thanks guys given me a bit to think about just a quick question if I stick to an auto box due to the cost of converviting it what a good way to make it more responsive so you get a similare response to the manual box.
May have to take you up on that got layed off today :ranting: Really hope I don't need to sell her some thing about the sound of a 5lt
Wondering if any one has info about the the strut bars. Are they are worth it or more just look good for a road car that not going to hit the track? Also been thinking about the exhaust (must be) pacemaker headers in to 2.5 pipe with high flow cat ( type of muflier is confusing me ) what your thoughts on it. I know it nothing special and fairly generic but if you have a suggestion that may make it more custom would be appreciated. Is it worth looking in to second hand parts for these ?
Forget the strut brace, waste of time and money. For the exhaust, why not look at some of the HSV extractors and 2nd hand systems on Ebay? If your budget is tight, thats the way I would go. Sorry to hear about your job loss as well, tough out there thats for sure.
