i agree, but it would be interesting to see what the inside look like after years of use and abuse.

i make that statement based on knowing how thin the cylinder walls are. basically they need to be sleeved, which will be an expensive exercise. personally, i like a torquey motor, which you cant fault the 5 litres for.

thats my (total of) 4 cents

I know of a guy who bought an ex taxi out of sydney with the gen3 in it, basically a rebuild motor for a turbo setup was all it was bought for. Anyways, after 500000km's it looked quite good inside.

As for torque, driven a ls2 yet? Very exciting ;)

i have driven a couple, and they are tough cars.

if you throw money at any engine you can make it perfect, but i dont think that is what the question for this thread is.

in terms on faults, the ls1 has many more than what the aussie 5L did.
The only problems i have seen is achillaries going, like alternator or water pump.
