ok, so i had a big water problem with the ecotec...water in oil...turn oil into yoghurt, and steam coming from exhuast. so i bought another motor and put that in, runs smooth as has no yoghurt in the oil so it seems to be all sweet. But im still gettting plumes of steam out the tailpipe even after letting it warm up for 30mins and taking it for a few short spins up and down the street. Now my question is, the old motor had a major water problem...could the mufflers be full of water still and its just taking ages to dry them out? The car has been sitting for over 9 months with the same tank of fuel (almost empty) do you guys think that there could be a lot of water in the fuel causing this steam as the fuel has been sitting for so long? I just cant seem to think of any other reasons why its steaming...i checked the coolant levels after its been steaming for 30mins and its full to the brim still. I know thermostat has opened as the fans came on at one stage so that tells me that the thermostat surely should be opened (its a brand new one) and water is flowing through the motor.

Probably water left in the exhaust if its not using any coolant.. When Ive replaced these inlet menifold gaskets before, Ive noticed that it can take a fair while for the car to stop steaming out the exhaust..

ok so ive sorted out the steam problem....i drained the fuel tank completely then put fresh premo in it with a new filter and now it doesnt steam out the pipe one bit. Goes to show how much condensation build up in a tank only after 10months!
