My 1999 VT has just developed a peculiar starting problem. If you turn on the ignition and try to start it, it will just keep cranking without firing. If I then switch off and try again it will fire and start first time.

Does anyone have any idea why this should be happening? The ECU is not showing any events.

    Rod.

My mates VT did this, I think it was a faulty ECU.

    Was a 1997 vt v6 wagon
I had this problem a few years ago, it turned out to be a faulty ignition key module.

im goin through this atm but yesterday my car wont kick over at all now i got codes 31, 48 and 92 now i been told 31 is a faulty key head and needs 2 b replaced im gonna do that hopefully on tuesday i'll let u know how it goes as 4 fault 48 thats the cam sensor ive been told this rarly get a fault in it but works along with the key hence y its not kickin over. Urs mayb on its way out might pay 2 get it fix or looked at b4 ur stuck in ur drive way like me while u can stilll drive haha.

the previous owner had this problem b4 i got it, they had it back n forth from holden a number of times but never found the problem so ive had the car 4 nearly 2 years now still with the problem but funny thing was my car went 8 months touble free so it was a lil weird. ive always thought it was the crank angle sensor as its a common problem 2 im goin 2 replace that aswell coz i have brought 1 but never fitted it.
