If you dont have a 24mm socket and ratchet or 24mm ring spanner then go buy one coz a shifter will just fcuk it up eventually.

you don't have a repco in harden?
try some multy grips, though you don't want to stuff the nut which they may.

You'll need a 24mm spanner, because you need to be able to grab the 10mm nut in the middle to turn it without turning the whole strut.

I'd recommend just going and buying one, it will save you a lot of headaches, and you'll need it for the other side anyway. Beats having to grind the nut off the top because you rounded it. Otherwise, ask your next door neighbour if he/she has a 24mm spanner?

Isn't the strut top mounted to the car by only the one nut? I thought the second was to remove the spring.

Damn, I know the feeling. I'm 10k's from town where I am, but got lucky and had the right spanner. Still had to drive 60k's for the parts lol. Can't win either way.
