Vt Temperature Gauge

I have a VT commodore and the temperature gauge intermittently goes from normal to full hot and after a few seconds goes back to normal. It seems to happen when ever it feels like it. The radiator has pleanty of water in it.
any suggestions?

Check your wiring to the engine water temperature sensor. It may be shorting to ground somewhere, maybe even try changing the sensor itself. These will be your cheapest options to start with.

Faulty thermostat perhaps...relatively cheap to play with at $12-15ea
